Zidane named FIFA Coach of the Year

Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane has been named as FIFA Coach of the Year at The Best awards after guiding his side to four titles in 2017.

Los Blancos lifted La Liga, retained the Champions League and European Super Cup crowns, alongside scooping the Spanish Supercopa, all of which followed last December’s Club World Cup prize.

“It’s an honour to be here. I never thought that I would find in a situation to an important award with great managers like Allegri and Conte,” Zidane told the awards ceremony upon receiving the prize, won by Claudio Ranieri last year.

“I can only thank my players for this award. They are the ones who got this. Thank you Real Madrid and my family – every day it is a dream to train this club.”

Zidane faced competition for his prize from Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who won the English Premier League title in his first season at Stamford Bridge along with Juve Coach Max Allegri.
