Lucas ‘ready’ for Depor start

Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez is eager to start more matches for the club after only being named in three line-ups to date.

Pepe Mel’s side host Girona tonight and the 29-year-old, who returned to the club on loan from Arsenal this summer, is keen to be selected.

“If the Coach wants me, I'm ready to play,” Lucas is quoted as saying by Marca.

Meanwhile, Mel added ahead of Monday’s clash: “Girona have a clear personality and identity, but we have analysed their system and worked hard on combating it.

“They are flexible and adaptable but right now they are the only game we are thinking about, we do not look beyond it.

“We must not worry ourselves with possible scenarios or think ‘if we win we’ll have x number of points’, just as why we would not have worried had we lost to Getafe.

“Having a large squad fully fit makes things complicated from my position, but of course it is fantastic, especially when they are all keen to be started – we must find the right balance and make tough decisions.”
