Julen Lopetegui’s men recorded victories over Albania and Israel to seal their spot in next summer’s World Cup in Russia and complete their qualification group.
La Roja have jumped above nations such as Chile and Switzerland in the standings, while they are joined in the top 10 by Peru – who will contest a World Cup playoff spot against New Zealand.
Germany remain top of the rankings with Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Belgium completing the top five.
