Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo believes the future arrivals of Vitolo and Diego Costa make his club title contenders.
The two Spain internationals have agreed to join Los Rojiblancos in January and the club have made a strong start to their league campaign with 14 points from their opening six fixtures.
“Now we know Diego Costa and Vitolo are arriving, we must aim to win the title,” Cerezo is quoted as saying by Marca.
“We must work to improve from last season’s performance, which was phenomenal but now we are even stronger and with these two great players we will win a lot and especially from January onwards.”
Atleti would be aiming to win their first La Liga crown since their 2014 triumph, but have failed to break into the top two in the league since.
