Filipe Luis has explained how, despite no signings over the past twelve months, competition for places at Atletico Madrid is higher than ever.
The Brazilian full-back has already missed two games for Diego Simeone’s due to rotation with Lucas Hernandez and Jose Gimenez among those competing for a left-back berth.
“We are in a very good moment, both physically and mentally,” Luis is quoted as saying by Marca.
“Right now we feel very confident and there is strong team morale, and it’s getting tougher to make our starting eleven.
“Rotations are necessary and last year too that was a big feature, but we must be adaptable to our opponents and the demands of each match.
“The key is to ensure everybody knows they have a chance of being included in the team and also that they are all motivated they also might lose their place with poor performances.
“Nobody here is a guaranteed starter for any given game but we all understand this.”
