La Liga 123: Toche downs Cadiz

Cadiz lost their top spot in La Liga 123 after suffering their first defeat of the campaign at Real Oviedo thanks to Toche’s second half strike.

The 34-year-old striker, formerly of Panathinaikos and Deportivo La Coruna, netted the only goal of the game at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere to fire Las Oviedistas to 6th.

Numancia are now top of the table on goal difference after an impressive 3-0 victory over Sporting Gijon – Pablo Valcarce netted twice along with Alberto Escasi’s strike.

Valladolid rise up to second after a 2-1 home win over Granada – who are still without a win this season, although this was their first defeat.

Newly-promoted Cultural Leonesa are the fourth team who lead the way with 10 points from 5 game following a 3-2 home victory over Huesca.

Lugo made it back-to-back victories thanks to a last minute winner from Iriome Gonzalez in a 2-1 victory at home to Real Zaragoza, while Rayo Vallecano secured a scoreless draw at Sevilla Atletico, who are yet to taste victory.

Osasuna striker Quique netted against former club Almeria in a 2-1 victory for the Pamplona-based team, with Sebastian Coris netting the winner after Fidel’s opener for the Andalucians.

Elsewhere, Reus held Lorca to a 1-1 draw while Barcelona B secured a draw at Alcorcon by the same scoreline.

Gimnastic defeated Albacete 3-1 while last year’s defeated playoff finalists Tenerife crashed to a 2-0 loss at Cordoba.
