Casillas aims for Porto titles

Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas has revealed he stayed at the Portuguese club as he is still hungry to win trophies.

The former Real Madrid shot-stopper was linked with a number of European clubs this summer but ended up renewing his deal at Estadio do Dragao.

“There were several factors behind my decision to stay,” Casillas is quoted by Diario AS as telling Esporte Interativo.

“I believe I owed the club my loyalty as they showed faith in me and helped me to maintain my status at the top level – it has been an enjoyable two years here.

“This will be my third season with the club and in each of the previous two seasons we have finished second and we have not won a single trophy, which must be rectified as I want more trophies.

“The aim is to win titles and trophies and to help Porto to maintain their status as the top club in Portugal and to be respected at the top level in Europe.”
