Diego Godin believes Atletico Madrid are confident in their ability to win the Champions League bust make take it ‘one step at a time’.
Los Rojiblancos have only been knocked out of the competition by Real Madrid during Diego Simeone’s tenure – including two finals – and start this season’s campaign at Italian giants Roma.
“Roma? It will be a tough against a really strong side,” Godin explained during a pre-match press conference.
“But we are confident and prepared – we will play like we always do and apply everything to the match, we have the enthusiasm and determination for the competition.
“This tournament is always a long road but over the years we know we can complete it, but you must take it one step at a time and remain focused.
“To win the Champions League you need the best players and the best Coach and we have both, so of course we have confidence.”
