Madrid plan contract extensions

Real Madrid are keen to tie six of their first-team stars down to renewed long-term contracts along with a new deal for Coach Zinedine Zidane.

The club are drawing up plans to renew the stays of Isco, Marco Asensio, Karim Benzema, Marcelo, Dani Carvajal and Raphael Varane at the Bernabeu, according to Marca.

Rising star Asensio will be penned down to the longest contract, until 2023, with Frenchman Benzema willing to put pen to paper until 2021 with the remaining four players to renew until 2022.

Zidane, who replaced Rafael Benitez in the Madrid hotseat in January 2016, is also set to receive a contract renewal until 2020.

A key feature of these new deals will be extortionate release clauses with Malaga-born Isco’s reported to be €700m – with the club baring in mind Neymar’s exit from Barcelona after his €222m release clause was triggered.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric were among the stars to renew at Los Blancos last season.
