Real Sociedad boss Eusebio Sacristan is hopeful his side can hold onto prized central defender Inigo Martinez going into the new season.
The 26-year-old defender has amassed 193 La Liga appearances for the Basques since his debut in 2011 but reports this summer have linked him with a move to Barcelona, who could trigger his €32m release clause.
“He is a really important player for us and it’s great to have him with us,” Eusebio told Marca.
“He’s extraordinary and capable of producing a very high level.
“There have been lots of rumours about our players which in one aspect is a good thing and natural following on from a good season, but we hope to keep him.”
The central defender, who has won four caps for Spain, has a deal at the Anoeta until June 2021.
