Yerry Mina breaks metatarsal

Palmeiras defender Yerry Mina, who reportedly has a pre-agreement to join Barcelona in January, has broken the fifth metatarsal in his foot.

The 22-year-old left the pitch in great pain during his side’s Copa Libertadores elimination against Ecuadorian side Barcelona de Guayaquil this week and has been diagnosed with a broken foot, which is due to sideline him for between four and six weeks.

This alone is not thought to derail his supposed move to the Camp Nou – reported to be scheduled for January 2018.

Mina moved to Palmeiras from Sante Fe last year and won the Brazilian League in his first season, while making its Team of the Year.

He also has nine caps for Colombia, scoring three goals.

Barca are said to have abandoned their pursuit of Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez in favour of waiting to sign Mina.
