Atletico Madrid are hopeful of signing Racing Club striker Lautaro Martinez but he is reportedly to sign a new contract to increase his release clause.
Reports in Diario AS suggested the 19-year-old striker would imminently agree a move to Los Rojiblancos but Marca suggest this deal is still some way off.
“I am grateful to Lautaro for his gesture of not leaving by his current buyout clause,” the Argentine club’s president Victor Blanco explained on Radio 1.
“We are going to put in place a new contract and raise his clause.”
Martinez broke into the Argentine club’s first team last season and netted nine goals in 23 appearances.
