Report: Barca end Inigo Martinez interest

Barcelona have ended their attempts to sign Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez and will wait for Colombian Yerry Mina to arrive in January, say reports

According to El Mundo Deportivo the Blaugrana have undergone a change of heart and will now conclude their deal for Palmerias defender Mina and rule out a loan deal for Marlon Santos.

Barca reportedly met with La Real earlier this week to inform them of their intentions of signing Martinez, but the Basque club refused to budge from his €32m release clause.

The transfer committee at the Camp Nou then held talks which concluded with the agreement to push ahead with a deal for Mina and end their interest in Martinez.

Mina moved to Palmeiras last year and won the Brazilian League in his first season, while making its Team of the Year.

He also has nine caps for Colombia, scoring three goals.

Alongside the retention of Brazilian defender Marlon, Barca are also said to be considering keeping Thomas Vermaelen in their squad.
