Betis beat Malaga to Javi Garcia – report

Real Betis have reportedly beaten Malaga to the signing of Zenit Saint Petersburg midfielder Javi Garcia, who looks set to join in a €1.5m deal.

Diario de Sevilla report the 30-year-old will sign a four-year contract at Estadio Benito Villamarin and looks set to complete the deal in the coming days.

The former Benfica and Manchester City midfielder was left out of his side’s match with Spartak Moscow this weekend.

Garcia’s wife and two children live in the province of Sevilla, with an instagram post in July stating "I miss them very much, I cannot wait to see my princesses again, it's the worst feeling in the world!”

Malaga have also been heavily linked to the Real Madrid youth product with Coach Michel stating on Saturday he was a target before club owner Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani said on twitter the door had been closed.
