Sevilla are prioritising the signing of left-back Jonny Castro but Celta Vigo are reportedly refusing to negotiate down his release clause, said to be €16m.
On Thursday, Los Rojiblancos sporting director Oscar Arias confirmed they were still in the market for a full-back, with Estadio Deportivo reporting the highly-rated 23-year-old is their number one target.
Comfortable playing either in the heart of right-hand side of the defence, Jonny has racked up 157 La Liga appearances since graduating through Celta’s academy and is a mainstay of the Spain Under 21 squad.
The report quotes the defender stating in December he would consider leaving Balaidos to further his career, although his current deal has two further years left to run.
Sevilla are also said to be in the market for the Vigo-native, with Coach Eduardo Berizzo recently switching between the clubs.
