Real Madrid and Barcelona are set to do battle for Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe as the transfer window intensifies following Neymar’s transfer, say reports.
Friday’s front pages of Marca, Diario AS and El Mundo Deportivo all cover the 18-year-old striker; Marca believe Madrid will sign him if they sell Gareth Bale while AS report the striker has already said ‘yes’ on a move to the Bernabeu.
However, whilst Mundo Deportivo believes the Blaugrana may pip Los Blancos to the Frenchman due to Neymar’s departure, the Spanish press is united in believing he wishes to leave the French champions this summer.
These followed reports from L’Equipe in France that the teenager was angling for an exit from Monaco and reports he and his father had already held a meeting with Madrid in July.
With Karim Benzema and Luis Suarez established in the respective teams a confirmed starting position at either seems unlikely, although Neymar’s exit from the Camp Nou and Bale’s doubtful future at the European Champions perhaps leaves a door open at both clubs.
