David Barral joins Cadiz

Cadiz have signed experienced forward David Barral from Cypriot giants APOEL after he acrimoniously departed Granada in January.

The 34-year-old was temporarily suspended from training with El Grana earlier in the season after allegedly punching teammate Isaac Cuenca, for which he later apologised.

Cadiz-native Barral joined Granada on an 18-month contract in January 2016 but made only eight league appearances at Estadio Nuevo Carmenes, failing to score.

“I’m happy to defend the colours of Cadiz,” Barral wrote in a Twitter post.

“I was keen to play in my country again and I feel great pride in being a Cadista.

“I will always believe in you.”

The striker is most famed for his spell with Sporting Gijon between 2006 and 2012 while he also spent two seasons with Levante, alongside stints in Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and most recently in Cyprus – where he scored three time in 12 appearances.
