Paulinho’s move to Barcelona could yet go through despite Guangzhou Evergrande insisting they would not sell him in the midst of their season, say reports.
The Chinese Super League club released a statement to confirm the Brazilian international would not be sold this month – with the league’s transfer deadline closing on Friday.
“Guangzhou Evergrande Football Club remains firm in its stance on the transfer of Paulinho. We will never sell him in the middle of our season,” read the statement.
However, Diario Sport report the Blaugrana still hold out hope for a deal after Guangzhou signed Vasco de Gama’s Brazilian forward Muriqui which they believe indicates a deal may yet go through.
Barca have already tied up deals for Gerard Deulofeu and Nelson Semedo but turned to Paulinho after Paris Saint-Germain ruled out Marco Verratti’s sale.
