Diego Alves set for Flamengo move

Valencia are negotiating the sale of goalkeeper Diego Alves to Brazilian side Flamengo with both clubs confident of a deal, the club have confirmed.

The 32-year-old shot-stopper is one of a number of players set to exit Los Che this summer and has also been linked with Deportivo La Coruna and Roma.

“We are negotiating with Flamengo and we are in that process," Valencia general director Mateu Alemany is quoted as saying in Marca.

"I've got the conviction that the player wants to sign for that club and we are negotiating."

The Brazilian told ESPN Brasil last month: “Flamengo is a club that attracts any player in the world.

"I can't say that I would not return to Brazil or that I wouldn't play for Flamengo but in order for that to happen, the two clubs would have to negotiate between them."

The Brazilian has spent six seasons at the Mestalla after initially spending four years at Almeria.
