Castro promises Betis return

Ruben Castro confirmed he intends to return to Real Betis in the new year when his loan spell at Chinese Super League club Guizhou Hengfeng ends.

The 36-year-old striker has spent the last seven seasons at Los Verdiblancos where he has netted 147 goals across all competitions, including 13 last campaign, and has been involved in two promotion campaigns.

“I'm only going until December so in a few months I'll be back again,” Castro is quoted as saying by El Correo.

“It is a new experience for me – I wanted to live abroad, I've been at Betis for seven years and now I've had this wonderful opportunity.

“Now it is time to enjoy this experience and see how it goes.

“When I return, I expect the team to be high up the standings and performing well as things are shaping up strongly for the season.

“I want to thank all my teammates over the years and all the fans of this wonderful club, we have a strong relationship.

“Playing for this club has been a totally different experience for me than anything else.”
