Depor confirm Alves interest

Deportivo La Coruna president Tino Fernandez has confirmed the clubs are in discussions to sign Valencia goalkeeper Diego Alves.

The Brazilian shot-stopper has spent six seasons at the Mestalla after initially spending four years at Almeria, but the club’s signing of Juventus goalkeeper Norberto Neto appears to have ended his future at the club.

"It is true we are talking to agents and with Valencia but nothing more at the moment,” Fernandez is quoted as saying by Plaza Deportiva.

“Nothing is done as we speak and I do not particularly like discussing players who are at other clubs because that will not help.

“Just as with other players, when it is announced it will be announced but right now there is nothing.”

Alves has an asking price of €4m at the Mestalla although that could be lowered if a bidding war does not commence for his signature.
