Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu has started pre-season training with Sporting Lisbon ahead of a summer move to the Portuguese giants.
The 33-year-old will reportedly be allowed to leave the Camp Nou on a free transfer this summer despite still having a year left on his contract, as he is surplus to requirements.
"FC Barcelona has granted permission for defender Jeremy Mathieu to train on a trial basis during his holidays with Sporting Club de Portugal," a Barcelona club statement read.
"Once this period is over, the two clubs and the Frenchman will make a decision on the player's future."
Mathieu has made 91 appearances for the Blaugrana since a €20m move from Valencia in 2014.
