Monaco: Mbappe could leave…

Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim admits “it’s not always possible to keep your best players”, in a reference to Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe remains heavily linked with Madrid, and despite his club previously affirming that he would not be sold, Jardim confessed the principality side were at risk of losing the teenage attacker.

“I haven’t talked to him, but he knows that our ambition is to keep him,” the Coach told BFMtv.

“I think he and the club are going to make the best decision.

“All the Coaches in the world want to keep their best players, but it’s not always possible.

“We’ll see what happens. For now, the most important thing is having the head to work at 100 percent and nurturing the young lads. After that, we’ll see which players stay.”

However, Prince Albert II of Monaco made it clear the French champions would do “everything we can” to keep the player.

“We’re doing everything we can to make him stay,” AS quotes the royal as telling reporters at the Tour de France in Dusseldorf.

“Talks are ongoing and I think he wants to stay. I’m convinced that an agreement will be reached.”
