Everton’s Lemos talks ‘on hold’

Everton’s pursuit of Las Palmas defender Mauricio Lemos is ‘on hold’ after the club stepped up their interest in Burnley’s Michael Keane, say reports.

Reports in last month’s Diario Sport claimed the Toffees were willing to pay €20m for the highly-rated defender even though Los Amarillos wanted to hold out for his €30m release clause.

However, their interest in the Uruguayan has cooled according to the Liverpool Echo who believe Ronald Koeman’s side are now prioritising England international Keane instead.

Both defenders are valued at the same amount but Manchester United’s move for Benfica’s Victor Lindelof has seemed to pave the way for the Blues to move for the Burnley centre half.

Signed from Russian side Rubin Kazan last year, Lemos netted five times in 23 La Liga appearances last season.
