Zidane: Clasico not decisive

Zinedine Zidane insists the Clasico is just “one more game” for Real Madrid, who “won’t have won the League” if they beat Barcelona on Sunday.

Luis Enrique suggested Madrid would have virtually pipped Barca to La Liga with victory at the Santiago Bernabeu, but Zidane made it clear his side “still had six after that“, referring to the number of games Los Blancos had remaining once they got the Catalans out of the way.

“We’re used to these types of games, it’s one more game but very important for us,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“There’s a lot of wear and tear but also a lot of enthusiasm for continuing to do what we’re doing.

“Will Clasico decide the League? We won’t have won the League, it’s another game and there’ll still be six after that.

“Bale’s going to be with us, he’s trained well and you’ll see if he plays or not.

“Any notion of winning La Liga yet? Not at all. We’re very focused on tomorrow’s game, we are going to try to do our best.

“I’m not speculating what our opponents will do. We’re here to give our all, the coaches, players, fans …

“We all want to give everything to win the match. We don’t feel any negative pressure. We’re very convinced about what we’re doing.

“We’re going to play against a very good team, who can make life difficult for you at any moment.

“We’ll be at our place and we’re going to try doing very well with our fans, who have always helped the team.

“It’s a game in which you need to fight a lot. We’re not the favourites and we’ll go out to have a great game.

“My first Clasico at the Bernabeu as Coach? It’s always a special game, like the Derbi. It’s different.

“Still, there’s always the same things at stake, the three points. When the referee blows his whistle, everything is forgotten.

“It’s a game that we’ll try to control and one in which we have to do a lot of things well.

“Marcelo? He’s a very complete player, but what I like most about hhim s his character, he’s a 10.

“He gives us a lot of positive energy and that’s very good for the group. He’s always having a laugh.

“Decisive details? Yes, there will be details that can be important. You never know what will happen in a game, just look at last Tuesday. We went to extra time after we’d won the first leg.

“We know that details can decide a match, but I want to see the team having a good game and starting well.

“Barca’s elimination from the Champions League? I don’t think that’ll weigh them down. If we think about that, we’d be making a mistake.

“Barça are a very good team that have shown many good things throughout the season.

“They’re also a team that won’t feel any special pressure at the Bernabeu. We know we need to have a great game.”
