Antoine Griezmann believes Atletico Madrid will get a positive result at the Bernabeu in Saturday’s crucial Madrid derby.
The 26-year-old played down the chances of Los Rojiblancos – who’ve won five games in a row – mounting a late title challenge, but he does believe they can upset their city rivals.
“I always have the utmost confidence in my team mates and I'd go as far as to say that I fancy us to get a positive result on Saturday,” Griezmann said at an event on Thursday.
“We are calm, working on tactics and preparing ourselves for the match and working hard to be in the best possible state.
“It is an important game for our fans and for us so we hope it turns out well.
“Can we win the league? I'm not sure, at present securing an automatic Champions League place is the objective at the club. Having said that Saturday is a huge game, especially for the fans. Finishing fourth in the league table would be seen as a disappointment and it would also mean cutting short our summer holidays to play a qualifying game. That is a major factor.”
