Mbappe cool on Madrid links

Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe has played down reports he will join Real Madrid this year as it’s a club for players ‘at the peak of their careers’.

The 18-year-old has netted 19 times in 32 appearances for the Ligue 1 side this season and has now made his senior debut for France, with media in Spain and England linking him with a move to either Real Madrid or Manchester United respectively.

"At the moment I am at Monaco," Mbappe told reporters after starting in France’s 2-0 defeat to Spain on Tuesday night.

"We go along step by step. Madrid is for players at the peak of their careers, and I am not there yet.

"I have been brought up, and have people around me, to help me keep my feet on the ground. What I want is to play football, score goals, win games and trophies. Every player has their career."
