Spain boss Julen Lopetegui is backing Gerard Deulofeu “to have many more nights like this” after the forward’s match-winning France cameo on Tuesday.
Deulofeu won a penalty and scored the clinching goal for Spain in their 2-0 victory over France to prolong Lopetegui’s unbeaten start at the helm to eight games and leave the Coach “very happy”.
“What the video referee did was justice, it was successful in revising the two incidents,” he said after the game, referring to Antoine Griezmann’s disallowed header and La Roja’s second finish.
“Deulofeu? He had a decisive introduction to the game. We’re very happy, he’s a lad who can contribute a lot to us.
“He has to keep growing like he is, with the same mentality. If he does, he’ll have many more nights like this.
“Iniesta? Everything’s been said about Andres. He’s phenomenal and he had a great game.
“He’s an example in what he does and how he does it. He’s a good reference for the young lads that start, but he still has a lot more to give.
“In football, there are teams that always produce talent and France have a spectacular generation coming through. They’re one of the best teams in the world.”
