Atletico Madrid ace Antoine Griezmann claims Jan Oblak “is the best goalkeeper in the world” after the Slovenian’s string of saves against Bayer Leverkusen.
Oblak made a triple save to deny Julian Brandt and Kevin Volland, before following up with two more stops to prevent Kevin Kampl and Leon Bailey as Atleti held on for a 4-2 aggregate victory in the Champions League last 16.
“We had some chances but were out of luck,” the forward said after the match.
“Still, the most important thing was that we reached the quarter-finals and we’re already thinking about the next game.
“No goals? We didn’t plan to attack like crazy and we’re in the quarters, so everyone’s happy.
“We lacked a bit of luck and a few yards, but the most important thing now is Sevilla. We’ll try to win the next match.
“Oblak? He’s the best goalkeeper in the world, he proves it in every game proves and he did again tonight.
“Another year in the quarter-finals? It seems easy but there are a lot of matches, you have to give it your all and we’ve done that every year.
“If you want to reach the final, you have to beat everyone that you face.”
