Players focus on Torres health

Atletico Madrid’s players opted not to speak about their draw at Deportivo La Coruna in light of the injury to teammate Fernando Torres.

Torres was knocked unconscious with six minutes of normal time remaining with the scores locked at 1-1, but Filipe Luis and Antoine Griezmann were not in the mood for discussing anything other than Torres’ health.

"It was something very scary for all of us, we are not used to such sights," Luis told BeIN Sports immediately after the final whistle.

"The news we have received so far is positive, he is conscious and speaking.

"The most important thing is Fernando is OK and recovers. He means a lot to this club, both as player and person. These things happen in football. We hope that he is OK, and back with us playing soon."

The former Liverpool and Chelsea man’s strike partner Griezmann – who equalised for the visitors in the second half – also chose not to talk about the match due to the condition of his strike partner.

"I don't really care now about football or the result," the French striker told Gol TV.

"We are only worried about Fernando's health at the moment. We hope he's OK and back with us as soon as possible."
