Nadal ‘would like’ Madrid presidency

Tennis star Rafael Nadal has admitted at a media event he would like to one day be president of Real Madrid, his boyhood club.

Nadal was speaking to the press for the first time since his Australian Open final defeat to Roger Federer in A Coruna – where he was presented with a Deportivo shirt – and confirmed he would one day like to be at the helm at the Bernabeu, although he admits it may be unrealistic.

“You never know what will happen. Everybody knows that I love football and that Real Madrid is my team,” explained the 30-year-old.

“Talking about that now is a bit of a utopia but if you ask me, of course I would like to be president. In any case, we’re doing just fine as we are, we have a great president and I don’t think Real Madrid need me for anything.”
