Sporting Gijon coach Rubi rued his side’s leaky defence after they crashed to a 4-2 home defeat at the hands of Alaves.
The Sporting coach admitted some individual mistakes made by his side were ‘strange’ and they made it too easy for the visitors to score goals, including the conceding of two penalties.
"Today's goals were all avoidable," Rubi reiterated to the press after the match.
“The penalty conceded by Fernando Amorebieta (for striking Deyverson in the face)? It is necessary we try to avoid certain actions as it punishes the whole team.
“In the game we have received one blow after another, many of them were direct mistakes from us, either individually or collectively.
"The fans can only be told that we are going to Leganés with the aim of picking up three points, as a defeat would be a tremendous setback.”
Sporting remain five points behind Leganes in the battle for survival at the foot of La Liga.
