Sergio Garcia is ‘counting the months’ until he signs for Espanyol in the summer, after a deal could not be concluded in the January window.
An agreement was in place between all the parties that the 33-year-old would return to the RCDE Stadium after 18 months in Qatar with Al-Rayyan but the deal collapsed as striker Felipe Caicedo’s move to Villarreal did not go through, but Garcia has since confirmed he will now return in summer.
"I am counting the months to come back with a lot of desire, enthusiasm and with all my heart," wrote the forward in an instagram post, which showcased many of his best moments with the club.
"I thank you very much for all the affection and gratitude that I’ve received from Espanyol fans in the past few days, it is a pity things were not completed already.”
Garcia spent five seasons at Los Periquitos, scoring 41 goals in 138 appearances.
