Escriba expects Pato exit

Fran Escriba confirms Alexandre Pato “has an interesting offer” to leave Villarreal after leaving the striker out of Saturday’s game against Granada.

Pato’s offer in question is reportedly from Tianjin Quanjian as the former Milan attacker is said to have joined up with the Chinese club in Italy for preseason, and Escriba feels the 27-year-old’s head has been turned.

“We’ve analysed the situation and it’s difficult to count on him for this game because he has an interesting offer to leave the club and we can’t take any risks,” the Coach explained at a Press conference.

“The team have worked well this week, with the intention of recovering from the disappointment of the last matchday [against Valencia].

“Behind the scenes, I don’t want the players to think they’re having a bad season because they’re not.

“I would ask the fans to trust the team. We accept responsibility, but we’ve also shown many good things.

“Granada are in a difficult situation, but they’ve strengthened well. They have what it takes to get off the bottom.

“We’re aware of the League’s difficulty and that any team, in a single match, can make life very difficult for you.”
