Betis put off by Muniesa valuation

Stoke City defender Marc Muniesa is wanted by Real Betis, but the English side’s asking price of €3.5m could scupper any January deal.

Numerous Spanish media outlets including Mundo Deportivo, ABC Sevilla and El Desmarque all report Betis are interested in the former Barcelona youth product’s signing, but the economic situation of the club could be a potential stumbling block.

Muniesa has struggled to hold down a regular place at the bet365 Stadium and has been linked with a winter move away from the club.

“Marc is really valued here and you understand why when you see the two performances he’s put in,” Stoke boss Mark Hughes said last month.

“He’s a guy who just gets on with his work, but clearly he wants an opportunity.

“He lost a lot of football through injuries in the early part of his career and playing week in, week out is important to him.

“We like to think we will be able to give him enough game time to allow him to be comfortable with his position here because we don’t want him to leave.”

Stoke’s Spanish forward Bojan Krkic is also facing an uncertain future after losing his status as a regular starter.
