Osasuna president Luis Sabalza is confident new manager Petar Vasiljevic will be able to stave off relegation for the club this season.
Sporting director Vasiljevic was swiftly installed to replace the sacked Joaquin Caparros to become Osasuna’s third manager of the campaign, following Enrique Martin’s dismissal only two months earlier.
"We thought Caparros was the right person to motivate the team but the results have proved that is not the case," Sabalza is quoted as saying by AS.
"We have a crucial month ahead of us and we felt it was the right time to make the change considering the results.
"Vasiljevic is the person for the job as he knows this team better than anyone and he is the one that can give us aspirations to avoid the drop."
The club have won only one La Liga fixture this season and are currently bottom of the standings with only seven points from their opening 16 games.
