‘Valencia won’t go down’ – Rodrigo

Valencia striker Rodrigo has rejected claims the club are in a relegation battle but insisted they must improve their performances and results.

The 25-year-old is convinced Los Che will swiftly come out of their crisis which sees them sitting 17th in La Liga after 14 rounds of fixtures, above Sporting Gijon on head-to-head record only.

"Valencia will not go down to the Segunda," Rodrigo – who has his four goals in his 13 appearances this season – is quoted as saying by AS.

"Yes of course it is a very unpleasant situation for us and the table makes things look complicated and I know it's an oft-repeated phrase but we must stay united and if we do, we'll be fine.

"There is no point talking about coaches or owners as ultimately it is the players who decide results on the field and that is where people should look, we all need to start taking responsibility.

"Perhaps the biggest issue is the mentality – the players, the club, we aren't used to being at this end of the table so that adds an extra pressure so at the moment we have to focus solely on winning and with that, the table will take care of itself."
