Victor: Betis need signings

Victor Sanchez admits Real Betis will need to make signings in January ahead of Sunday’s match against Celta Vigo in La Liga.

Aissa Mandi will represent Algeria at next month’s Africa Cup of Nations, leaving Betis short on centre-backs, more so given the Andalusians play in a 3-5-2 formation.

“Fabian Orellana’s a very important and competitive player who is able to make the difference,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“Celta’s level varies greatly with or without him, but they’re a team with more individuals. They’re a very competitive team with a great Coach.

“We have versatile players, therefore I’ll consider everyone and choose those who are working in the best way and best prepared to take on Celta.

“That our deputies make things difficult for me is a blessed problem. I want everyone in our team to be stars.

“I’m delighted by the involvement of everyone, they’re hungry and healthy competition is good for the team.

“Playing at home in front of our fans is wonderful and the best thing.

“Signings in January? When the window opens, that’s when we’ll take stock of the squad.

“We’ve adopted a change in system that needs a bigger number of centre-backs, and we have a player that we’ll lose for a long time because he’ll be at the Africa Cup of Nations, so it’s obvious that we’ll have to strengthen ourselves.”

One player who will not be taking on Celta is Charly Musonda, who has returned to parent club Chelsea to be treated for a knee injury.

“We hope he recovers as soon as possible,” concluded Victor.
