Victor calls for Betis calm

Victor Sanchez is calling for calm from his Real Betis players after Friday’s 2-0 win against Las Palmas but admits “it was a very nice night”.

Goals from Bruno Gonzalez and Aissa Mandi earned Betis their first home win in La Liga since September and ensured Victor made a victorious start to his spell in charge of the Andalusians.

“It was a very nice night, but we’re already thinking about the next game,” the Coach said after the game.

“The team were very good defensively. The work we did over the last few days was seen to have worked, and [the result] gives us confidence.

“It’s a very good starting point, but we won’t take our feet off the ground and go crazy because so much of the season remains.

“We have to analyse the match in order to improve and look for three points against Eibar next Friday.

“I’ve noticed the quality of the squad and its desire to improve and grow, which are the ingredients for everything to work.

“We were more accurate with our shooting than our opponents. It’s a good statistic and a starting point for us to grow and improve. We know there’s potential in the squad.

“Feeling the affection of the fans is the best reward.”
