New Real Betis manager Victor Sanchez del Amo has insisted that it is important not only to win matches but for the fans to identity with their club.
The former Deportivo and Olympiakos boss took the reins at Los Verdiblancos on Friday after the dismissal of Gus Poyet, who had lost the backing of the club and it’s fans.
"We want to win and have a style that can hook the fans,” declared Sanchez in his introductory press conference on Monday.
“We want the team to have personality of the fans, which is the biggest thing about this club so it is important they recognize their team, identity with and enjoy them.
“It’s a huge challenge that needs to go hand-in-hand with being competitive.
“That’s why we have been hired, to make teams win. We want to win and make the fans feel happy and we are going to work on that.
“The atmosphere we’ve found in the dressing room is very good.
“When a change happens, all the players become active again, the levels of focus rise, and the attitude towards work is good. I also went through that as a player. We want to maintain that.”
