Nacho wants ZZ selection headache

Real Madrid defender Nacho believes injuries to Sergio Ramos and Pepe could give him the opportunity to become a regular at the heart of the team’s defence.

Despite being in his seventh season with the first-team squad, Nacho has made only 84 appearances for Los Blancos but believes he can force his way into Zinedine Zidane’s plans.

"I want to make it as difficult as possible for the manager to choose," the centre-back is quoted as saying in Marca.

"I work hard to be ready when the coach needs me, and I am prepared for the opportunity.

"It is much easier to play when you do so every weekend.”

The defender also called on his side to focus on the match in hand, which is overshadowed by Legia Warsaw having to play home games behind closed doors due to a UEFA ban.

"The match will be weird because there won't be any supporters," Nacho said.

"Just like any other Champions League game, we'll have to leave that aside and be fully focused to get the three points."
