Real Madrid have announced that Gareth Bale has extended his contract with the club until 2022.
Bale’s previous deal was due to expire in little under three years’ time, but he has now committed himself to Madrid for another three, which will take the Welshman to until he is a fortnight before 33.
“Real Madrid and Gareth Bale have agreed to an extension of the player’s contract, which ties him to the club until June 30, 2022,” read a statement on Madrid’s official website.
“On Monday, at 13:30 [CET], Gareth Bale will appear before the media in the Bernabeu’s Press room.”
Bale arrived from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2013 for a then-world-record €100m and has gone on to win one Copa del Rey and two Champions Leagues with Los Blancos.
His 62 goals in 134 appearances have also made him a third of Madrid’s ‘BBC’ forward line, also containing Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.
