Zizou laughs off BBC criticism

Zinedine Zidane has laughed off criticism that BBC are “average” ahead of Real Madrid’s match against Athletic Bilbao in La Liga on Sunday.

Madrid’s backup front three of Marco Asensio, Alvaro Morata and Lucas Vazquez has statistically performed better than that of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo this season, but Zidane made it clear he was sticking with his “three phenonema”.

“BBC? You ask me because you think BBC are a bit average, for me they’re not,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“I’ll always count on everyone, we’re fortunate to have three phenomena and I have to make decisions.

“We know how important the game is. We must continue in this line. We had a very good week. We’re doing fine and looking forward to playing this game.

“Renewals? I think all my players are the best. If they all renew, I’ll be over the moon, plus the fans and the people of the club.

“Casemiro? He’s been called up by Brazil. We have to be very attentive to his recovery. We don’t know exactly what will happen, but the first is that Case recovers.

“He’s on a list of 24 and we’ll see if he can go with his national team because before then, he must be back with us. At the moment it’s difficult because he still isn’t training outside.

“The most important thing is that I talk to Morata because I love him a lot. He gives us a lot, he’s an important player and he’ll get minutes.

“Pepe’s renewal is a question of timing. He’s an important player and the club appreciate his work. He’s been here for 10 years now, and we must take into account what he’s done with this shirt.

“My best moment? The dream that I’ve already lived. Now, what motivates me is my work day to day.

“I’m pleased with the work of all the players and everyone around this team. The most important thing is that we keep going because we haven’t won anything.

“I’m lucky to have experienced this as a player. I know you can do well for five or six months and then things become difficult, so the important thing is the day to day because I know it best.

“Vazquez? He’s the model player. He’s also very professional. He’s always cheerful, joking with others, I love him as a player and person because in the end we’re all people.

“Kroos? I’m not worried because he’s not worried. In that position, we just have Casemiro and Kroos, but I’m not worried because Toni can play after one day of rest.

“Sporting director? The club are very well-organised. And that’s it.

“Headaches? I don’t have one today. I always spend a lot of time thinking about the team, but it’s my job. Playing every three days is normal.”
