Pepe has confirmed that he wants to sign a new contract with Real Madrid and retire at the club he calls “my home”.
Reports prior to Madrid’s 5-1 thrashing of Legia Warsaw in the Champions League on Tuesday suggested Pepe was considering a move away next summer, with his contract due to expire then, but the defender made it clear his priority was to end his career with Los Blancos.
“We played well, always respecting our opponents but always wanting to score a lot of goals,” the 33-year-old said after the game.
“Morata and Vazquez? Our squad is one of quality. The young lads are pushing hard and that’s good.
“Renewal? I’m calm, I want to help Madrid, the club I love a lot. Then my time will come. I’m calm.
“I hope the club call me first to resolve this situation. I’m calm, the people at the club know that this is my home.
“I’ve already said that I hope to be at Madrid until the last second. My objective is to retire here.”
