Costa to lead line against Italy

Chelsea striker Diego Costa will lead the Spanish attack against Italy in Turin on Thursday night in their World Cup qualifier, according to reports.

La Roja boss Julen Lopetegui used a training session in the Juventus stadium to try out the team that he wants to line-up against the Azzurri in the stadium, making just two changes to the side the beat Belgium in September's friendly – Andres Iniesta replaces Thiago with Costa replacing Alvaro Morata, formerly of Juve, up front.

AS reports that this training eleven wiill be the team to take on Italy in Turin: De Gea, Carvajal, Ramos, Pique, Alba, Busquets, Koke, Silva, Iniesta, Vitolo, Costa.

Italy will line up with three central defenders and a compact five-man midfield, and the report suggests that former Porto boss Lopetegui will want to press the Italians high up the pitch, which is why he wants Costa and Vitolo to pressurise the opposition defence which will allow Iniesta and Silva to drift wide, with Koke and Busquets holding the midfield pivot.
