Bravo: Barca exit was right

Claudio Bravo has revealed that his decision to leave Barcelona was based on no longer being guaranteed a starting position at the club.

Bravo joined Manchester City last month and has spoken for the first time about his departure from Camp Nou, stating that he also turned down the option of a contract renewal at the club.

"Barcelona offered me the chance to renew my contract and I appreciated that but I had to defend my own interests," the 33-year-old told the El Larguero programme on Cadena Ser.

"I did not just want to sit on the bench and collect my wage, that would not have been fair on me or on the club.

"I put pressure on the management in training and in matches with my performances.

"Ter Stegen's presence had nothing to do with me leaving, we had a good relationship and in fact if anything the competition was beneficial."
