One of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann will today be named the Best Player in Europe 2016.
The Real Madrid pair and their Atletico Madrid opponent are up for UEFA’s award, the winner to be announced in Monaco at the Champions League draw.
Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is the current holder while only Ronaldo of this year’s candidates has won the trophy before, in 2014, when Ronaldo finished third in the voting behind Messi and Luis Suarez.
The winner will be determined by a live vote of journalists present at the draw, the 54 reporters having each named a three-man shortlist to determine the final three contenders for the prize.
