Zidane hails Asensio goal

Zinedine Zidane was happy with the effort on display from Real Madrid in the season opening win at Real Sociedad and Marco Asensio.

Gareth Bale’s brace and an Asensio lob beat the Basques at Anoeta and Zizou spoke after the match about what the victory means to the team.

“We knew it was a complicated place but we played a good game from the start, although we suffered a bit. It’s important to start the season well. I like everything. Everyone put in a great effort. We attacked and defended together. You can achieve things fighting for the ball,” the Coach said, AS reports.

“Asensio? I had to decide and he started and he did well. So did Isco and James Rodriguez. My head hurts picking the team. We got three important points in a difficult ground. He’s working well. He’s got quality, talent. He’s able to break the lines and his goal was impressive. I’m happy with everyone.

“All the players want to be important. I have a lot of quality players but everyone is doing great. Not only offensively but in defence where we didn’t give away many chances and got a clean sheet.

“I’m happy for Bale, because physically he is behind the others but you couldn’t tell. He started in the best way, scoring early. This is a hard place to be if you don’t take your chances. This is an important year for him and he’s showing it.”
