Alvaro Morata is reportedly a doubt for Real Madrid’s first La Liga game after dropping something on his foot, a la Santiago Canizares in 2002.
The former Spain and Valencia goalkeeper infamously missed that year’s World Cup after dropping a bottle of aftershave and severing a tendon in his foot, while Mundo Deportivo cites radio reports that say Morata dropped a weight on his foot and could miss the game against Real Sociedad as a result.
Morata is said to have suffered the injury on Wednesday and Los Blancos’ medical team will assess the status of the striker, who returned to Madrid from Juventus over the summer, with Sunday’s game at Anoeta in mind.
