Ruben Perez joins Leganes

La Liga new boys Leganes have snapped up defensive midfielder Ruben Perez on a season-long loan from Granada.

The Andalusian-born player becomes the eighth addition to boss Asier Garitano’s squad as Los Pepineros prepare for a first-ever season in the top flight.

The 27-year-old joined Atletico Madrid’s youth system aged 13 and was given his League debut in May 2010 by current Espanyol chief Quique Sanchez Flores.

Nevertheless, it proved to be his only appearance for Los Colchoneros and the following five years saw him loaned out to Deportivo la Coruna, Getafe, Real Betis, Elche, Torino and Granada, before he signed a permanent deal with the latter before the start of last season.

Perez made 32 appearances for El Grana last term and a Leganes club statement said they expect him to bring “experience, quality and tactical order in midfield” to the capital club.
